CRISTINA ALFIERI, MD, FACOG
Dr. Cristina Alfieri completed her undergraduate education at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts in 2002. She subsequently moved with her husband to Detroit and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University. Dr. Alfieri started her career at Women and Infant's hospital in Providence, Rhode Island prior to joining Hutzel Women's Health Specialists in 2008. Her clinical interests include care of high risk pregnancies, management of labor and delivery and promotion of women's control of their fertility. In addition to caring for her patients, she enjoys traveling with her husband and children and being an active member of her community.
Dr. Cristina Alfieri is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
RADWAN ASAAD, MD, FACOG
Radwan Asaad, MD was born and raised in Syria, where he completed his medical school at University of Aleppo. After graduating in 2000 he did an internship at an Aleppo hospital before moving to the States to continue his medical education. After finishing a year of preliminary general surgery residency at Huron Hospital (Cleveland Clinic Health System) in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Asaad joined Wayne State University in Detroit, MI to complete his residency on OB/GYN. Since finishing his residency in 2008, Dr. Asaad has been in private practice with Hutzel Women Health Specialists.
Dr. Asaad is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He is fluent in English and Arabic.
His interests include low and high-risk pregnancy care, fibroid management, as well as minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including Laparoscopy, robotics and hysteroscopic procedures. He is a member of the Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG) at the Detroit Medical Center and has been a COEMIG designated surgeon since 2012.
Dr. Asaad has a great passion towards teaching residents and medical students. He holds faculty appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor at both Wayne State and Michigan State Universities.
Lori Billis-Gergics, MD, FACOG
Lori Billis-Gergics, MD received her undergraduate degree from San Diego State University with a major in Biology. She then returned to her home state of Michigan to attend medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit. Graduating in 1996 from medical school, she completed her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Hutzel Hospital and the Detroit Medical Center.
Lori initially joined a private practice on the east side after graduating, but later returned to the Detroit Medical Center in 2005 and joined the Obstetrics & Gynecology Faculty. She spent many years teaching residents and medical students. She now enjoys the balance of private practice and resident teaching. Since 2003, she is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Her primary interests include obstetrics, adolescent gynecology, perimenopause/postmenopausal care, and women's wellness.
Free time is spent with her family and friends. They enjoy boating, swimming, golf, Tiger baseball games, and many other outdoor activities.
DAVID KMAK, MD, FACOG
Dr. David Kmak is originally from Northwest Indiana. He did his undergraduate college training at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He then graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1986. Dr. Kmak then did his resident training in OB/GYN at Hutzel Hospital/Detroit Medical Center. Following Residency he joined the faculty of Wayne State University Department of OB/GYN at Hutzel Hospital and the DMC. Dr. Kmak was part of the faculty for 17 years until going into private practice as part of Hutzel Women’s Health Specialists.
Dr Kmak’s area of specialty is minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He is part of the Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery based at Harper/Hutzel Hospital. A surgeon must have demonstrated their skills in surgery, as well as low complication rates to be credentialed for this designation through the AAGL (American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy).
Dr. Kmak has been elected and listed in Hour Magazine as a “Top Doc” for the last 5 years.
Diane A. vista-deck, MD, FACOG
All her life, Diane and her family expected her to become a pediatrician. As her medical career flourished she realized that women's health was her primary passion. Sharing the excitement of a pregnancy and the amazement of childbirth with a woman is a reason to get up every day and even in the middle of the night. Diane believes in empowering women of all ages to be proactive in their health. Her primary interests include routine and high risk obstetrics, adolescent gynecology, and perimenopausal/postmenopausal care.
Diane graduated from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University School of Medicine. After residency, she joined the Obstetrics and Gynecology Faculty where she spend many years teaching residents and growing her patient base. Currently she loves her private practice and continues to be very active in resident teaching.
Free time equals family time for Diane. She and her husband Mike, can be found with their children at many activates including sports, dance, boating and skiing and snowboarding. One week each year, Diane dedicates to the poor of the Philippines, participating in a medical/surgical mission where she performs gynecologic surgeries and can even be found assisting the general surgeons or plastic surgeons.
HARPREET BRAR, MD
Dr. Harpreet Brar is originally from Calgary, Alberta Canada. She graduated from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Hutzel Hospital/Detroit Medical Center working directly with Dr. Kmak, Dr. Billis, Dr. Alfieri and Dr. Vista. She joined Hutzel Women's Health Specialists in 2016 after completing her residency.
Dr. Brar is married her to husband Michael and they reside in the Detroit area. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and travelling. She is extremely excited to be part of Hutzel Women's Health Specialists and primarily works in the Hamtramck office focusing on both obstetrics and gynecology.
AMANDA BROWNSBERGER, RN, CNM
Amanda Brownsberger, CNM earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nurse Midwifery form the University of Michigan. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Midwifery. Having had 15 years of Midwifery experience, Amanda has developed her skills in a variety of hospital and private practice settings. As a Nurse Midwife, she is qualified to provide comprehensive care to women prenatally, during labor, during postpartum as well as gynecological care to women of all ages. She takes pride in her ability to provide compassionate care and promote healthy lifestyles in all women.
VALERIE KMAK, MSN, RN, WHNP-BC

Emily Wieczerza is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Detroit Mercy in 2009 and spent 6 years in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Harper University Hospital. While working in the Intensive Care Unit she earned her Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Oakland University and began working with Hutzel Women's Health Specialists in 2015. She is a member of the AANP and Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners.
Emily's interests outside of work include spending time with her family and friends, playing soccer and being outdoors with her husband and son.
NATALIE WOODS, CNM
Natalie Woods is a Detroit native, who started her nursing career in 2003 at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit. After 8 years of service she transferred to Wayne State University School of Medicine to perform OB research within the infectious disease department. The research she participated in specialized in HIV in pregnancy and postpartum medication regimes. It was there she developed her love for prevention and treatment of HIV.
Natalie’s passion to provide full scope care to her obstetrical patients lead her to pursue further education in midwifery. In 2015 Natalie obtained a Master’s of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Advance Practice Nursing with Women, Neonates and Children. She began practicing as a certified nurse midwife in 2016 at Hutzel Women’s Hospital OB triage unit and joined Hutzel Women's Health Specialists in 2017.
She loves being a mother, midwife and friend. She enjoys life and approaches it with a positive outlook, finding good in any situation. Professional affiliations include member of American College of Nurse Midwifery, Sigma Theta Tau member, Co-founder of Metro Detroit Midwives of Color. Natalie is involved in various community programs such a Mom’s In Motion (HIV support group for women), MHPPPI project which focuses on provider education on advancement of HIV prevention and reduction, and also provides mentorship for aspiring midwives.
One of her favorite quotes is “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” Which explains her relentless passion and drive for continuous personal and career growth.
Richelle Zischke is a board certified Nurse Midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB). She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Phoenix in 2012 and her Masters of Science in Nursing at Frontier Nursing University in 2016. Before becoming a Nurse Midwife, Richelle spent 5 years as a Pediatric Nurse at the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital before moving to Michigan. Once in Michigan, she spent 2 years as Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse at the Children's Hospital of Michigan and 4 years as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Hutzel Women's Hospital where she still works part-time. Richelle began working with Hutzel Women's Health Specialists as a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2017.
